Note to Parents of Graduating Seniors
The closing of another school year will soon arrive, and with it will come the celebration of graduation. The faculty and staff will join students and parents in honoring the Class of 2026 at the graduation ceremony Sunday, May 24, at 2 p.m. at the Wright State University Nutter Center.
Wayne High School’s commencement exercise has traditionally possessed the appropriate degree of pomp and circumstance. It is our intention to make this year’s program one that will be cherished and recalled as a fond memory. The program is being planned with input from senior class officers and cabinet members who have done their best to represent the wishes of the entire senior class. It will be a meaningful ceremony for the graduates and their families and friends. We request appropriate attire for this special occasion. You can assist us in attaining this end if you will kindly reinforce at home the meaning and significance of the commencement activity. Please recall that we will be guests of the Nutter Center and our students will be expected to conform to standards of acceptable behavior. I believe you can understand why any student appearing to be intoxicated, lacking in personal control, or unwilling to abide by the good manners required for the commencement, will not be allowed to take part in the activity.
Air horns or other noise makers will be confiscated.
Although there are many worthwhile activities that are being planned, let us not allow the students to forget that they still have a few weeks of school remaining. Notification of those seniors not meeting graduation requirements will be made by our counselors.
No student owing fees (of any nature) will be permitted to participate in graduation. Please pay fees with Mrs. McCullough in the Main Office. Mrs. McCullough can also be reached at 937-233-6431, x72131.
Also included in the graduation packet is an information sheet for parents, as well as a seating diagram of the arena. From this diagram you may determine the best vantage point from which to observe your graduate as the diplomas are presented. There is no limit to the number of guests you may invite.
In closing, let me take this opportunity to personally extend my congratulations and best wishes to you, the parents of a graduate. May you take pride in the accomplishments of your child and in the realization that you have played a vital role in the educational process.
